“Through the Tunnel” Prove Yourself Paragraph
The time when I had to prove myself by reaching my goal was when I was beginning to lose my outing priveleges because of my grades. My dad told me that he had noticed my grades slipping and said I needed to get them up in order to go out and hang with friends. In a matter of weeks I proved to my dad that I was capable of reaching my goal and he was very impressed but still wanted me to push myself because he told me that he knew I could do it, and that I am smart enough. He added that he wants me to have a better life than he had and more opportunities. Once I reached that next goal he gave me my priveleges back and told me how proud he was of me.

Quentin Jammer San Pasqual Academy Thanksgiving Dinner
First-Person Narration from Alicia Jammer Point of Views
To see these kids having such a great time brings joy to my heart. I am so thankful that I am able to provide so much for these youth. Its about time to eat, I guess its time for me to go up and talk about today, since Quentin doesn’t ever talk in front of people. So now that everyone has their food, its times to call up my guest speaker, I hope that the kids like his story, he has lived a hard life maybe they will show interest in him. He seems to have a presentation set for them, I just hope none of the kids that are volunteering are going to get hurt! That was so great to see how much these kids like his story, he might have inspired some of these kids like he has done to me. Its time for the Mystic dance crew to come out, these guys just love the dance crew. It was wonderful to spend time with these kids its time to go home, my boys are tired. It was a wonderful night to spend with them, I am thankful for them.
Third-Person Omniscient Narration from Alicia Jammer Point of ViewsAs soon as Jennifer, Alex, and Ronnie got to the Jammer Dinner, they claimed their seats at the same table. There was a lot of activities like caricatures, collage tables, a chance to walk through the hall of champions, and much more. They chose to stand in line to have their pictures drawn. The line was very long because everyone was very excited to do the same. During that time Alex, Ronnie, and Jennifer decided walk through the hall of fame. After the line got shorter Alex and Ronnie was drawn by the guy. Once they heard the call to go back to their seats, they bowed their heads when the food was blessed and went to get their food with the others. The rest of the night filled with entertainment and then they got on their buses ready for their long ride home.
Narrator Expository Paragraph
The choice of narrator by an author effects the story, because it controls everything that happens. By choosing first-person narration the reader knows everything about the main character. The main focus of the story is about that character, by using this point of view the author has hidden whether the character is credible or unreliable. When using third-person omniscient the reader knows all of the thoughts, actions, and feelings about all the characters in the story. There is nothing that is hidden from the reader, the readers will be able to spot out which characters are unreliable. By the author choosing one of these ways to narrate a story the story is drastically changed, the story can remain partly mysterious or completely open.

’Typhoid Fever’– Present Tense Childhood Memory
I am four years old and sitting by our pool. I see everyone swimming and splashing with relief on this hot summer day. I get up and try to balance on the edge of the concrete that leads to the pool, when I hear my mom yell at me: "Sis, stop playing around or you'll fall in, and I'm not jumping in to save you." I ignore her and keep trying to balance myself. Next thing I know I can see the reflections of the sky through the water I'm under and then everything goes black. I peek open one of my eyes and i notice that I'm upside down. maybe I'm on someones shoulder, but its hard to tell. Everything goes black again and then I open my eyes only to find myself laying on my bed with all my clothes wet. I walk back outside to look for my rescuer but no one said anything and just continued with the pool party. I still don't know who saved my until this day.

"The Storyteller" Another Point of View
During the extremely boring train ride, I go out of my way to tell my nieces and nephew a story but they keep asking "Why?" and then they call my story stupid! I am so irritated. Then this bachelor wants to shake his head at me as if he can do better. He thinks hes so smart and that he knows how to entertain three uncontrollable children who won't be quiet! I'm tired and annoyed so I guess I see what he has to say. It seems that his story was very innapropriate but I'm glad he kept them quiet for the last ten minutes.

“’The Storyteller’ - Memorable Books from My Childhood.”
A list of my five favorite children's books are:
"Clifford The Big Red Dog" written by Norman Bridwell
"The Giving Tree" written by Shel Silverstein
"No, David !" written by David Shannon
"Corduroy" written by Don Freeman
"The Rainbow Fish" written by Marcus Pfister
Clifford was the runt of a litter of puppies and was chosen by a city child named Emily Elizabeth as her birthday present. No one expected him to grow, but Emily's love for her tiny red puppy changed him dramatically. Before long, he was over 25 feet tall, forcing the Howard family to leave the city and move to the open spaces of Birdwell Island.
The Giving Tree is a tale about a relationship between a young boy and a tree. The tree always provides the boy with what he wants: branches on which to swing, shade in which to sit and apples to eat. As the boy grows older, he requires more and more of the tree. The tree loves the boy very much and gives him anything he asks for. In an ultimate act of self-sacrifice, the tree lets the boy cut it down so the boy can build a boat in which he can sail. The boy leaves the tree, now a stump. Then in the future the boy comes back and asks the tree for a quiet place to sit and rest. The tree once again gives the boy the least that it has.
In No, David! there are pictures of David doing he was not supposed to do like writing and drawing on the wall, reaching the cookie jar, stepping into mud, dressed like a pirate with a scuba mask and snorkel and holding a shark and running naked down the sidewalk, dressed as a soldier playing with a big spoon and a pan, playing with the food at the table and eating it watching the tv dressed as a cowboy picking his nose, watching tv in another room, playing baseball in the living room and knocking down a vase sitting in time out and hugging mom.
Corduroy tells the story of a teddy bear named Corduroy, who is bought in a department store by a girl named Lisa.
The Rainbow Fish is best known for its morals about the value of being an individual and for the distinctive shiny foil scales of the Rainbow Fish.

Third Person Narrator: Plumber, Princess, & Attacking Turtle
Once upon a time, in a castle a princess was watching a plumber as he was trying to fix her sink. Suddenly outside the castle stomping up the hill, a giant turtle starts to roar in anger after a bug flew in his eye. In response the princess and the plumber go outside to see whats wrong. Later after a long story has been told to them by the giant angry turtle, they all create a conclusion on how to get the bug out of his eye. The princess walks over to the turtle blows a small, cool breath into it, and calmly and carefully takes the bug out with her two small fingers. Afterward the three all sit at the top off the big grassy hill, and watch the sun call it a day.

Dia de los Muertos - Pick a Person
I plan to construct a Dia de los Muertos altar about my grandmother, Anna Prietto-Sandoval. Her main charcter trait is wise. This person is known for being the greatest chief to ever lead her tribe for twenty whole years. Her appearance when she was a young woman, was known to be very beautiful and as she got older she started looking stronger and healthier every day. Others think my grandma is a very powerful and positive person to being around. She always has something wise to say about what goes on around the reservation. My grandma always thought that the children of the tribe should always get involved in their culture and never give up on their people. A few items that I may include in my altar to represent this person are beaded jewelery, material, more pictures and some flowers. I selected this person because shes the greatest person, that I know of, that has ever lived.
Academic Language Week 8 - Ten Commandments
Should doctors be allowed to help critically ill patients commit suicide? Yes, I believe that doctors should be allowed to
help critically ill patients commit suicide. My first reason is that a
lot of people that are ill and know that they are going to be deceased
soon so why would you have a CRITERIA to keep them in pain? It makes
more sense to just let them put themselves out of their misery. The
patient doesnt have to get CONSENT from anyone but their doctor, they
have lived a good life so obviously they know they are making a right
choice. My second reason is that it's EMPHASIZED that doctors shouldn't
kill lives. Well taking the shot to end the process is much more
cheaper then to keep them on life support and on machines. Those are my
reasons on why it should be okay for the doctors to do this.

Internet Safety Project - Public or Private Profile
Teenagers should set their social networking profile settings to private. One reason they should set it to private is because if they post too much about where they live, predators could easily find them. Anyone can put up pictures and access your information so they could use it to blackmail you and give you a bad reputation. Someone could cyberbully you if they can see your information. A lot of bad things may come out of someone's decision to not set their profile to private.

Dragons Den 7: Would You Rather?
I would rather get caught singing in the mirror rather than getting caught spying on my crush. It is less embarrassing to get caught singing in the mirror because it is something to forget about easily. Getting caught spying on a crush is far more embarrassing and it will be awkward the next time you see that person. In the future I hope that if I ever get caught doing something that's really embarrassing I hope that it is simple and something I and others can forget.

“Two Kinds” Character Analysis Paragraph
In the story "Two Kinds", Jing-mei's mother is very strict. I feel that she is a good mother that likes to challenge her daughter's abilities. When she grabs Jing-mei and sits her on the piano stool, it shows that she is very impatient and wants something done. Jing-mei's mother is an asian woman. Her mother's thoughts and feelings are pointed very strongly at her creating a child star of her daughter. She gives a lot of orders and commands that frustrate Jing-mei. She is a lot like mothers these days who force their children to do things they want them to do.

"Two Kinds" Mother-Daughter Conflict
In the conflict between Jing-mei and her mother, her mother is strict yet supportive to her even though she is forcing her to play the piano and to become a prodigy. My mother did the same to me and I am greatful that I had the opportunities to learn new things during that time. She taught me that with a little push, I can do anything thats possible though it may be difficult, and learning to play the piano was very difficult.

Dragons Den: Campus Donations
I guess I'm glad that significant things were donated. A football field, bleachers, and a track have been donated to my peers and I. I guess I feel thankful for these things. When I see the people who donated to San Pasqual Academy I will be very respectful.

"Two Kinds" Jing-Mei's Shoes Paragraph
If someone was pushing me to become a prodigy piano player I would be respectful and honored that they chose me. I would try my hardest to do good. Learning new things is always a good thing. I would not be afraid to challenge myself and based on my experience with playing the piano for three five years, it is not an easy thing. It takes dedication and a lot of hard work. Being pressured helps you focus on what needs to get done and motivates you to do very well, because with less pressure less effort is given.

"Two Kinds" Before You Read: Something You Don't Want to Do
In the morning at home my dad woke me up to go to school. I refused because I did not want to go. I was also not feeling well and it made me feel guilty because my dad was disappointed in me. He always tells me to do things that are important no matter what because it will only hurt you in the end. We resolved the conflict by deciding to just go to school after lunch if I was feeling better by then.

"Everyday Use" Before You Read: Tradition
Fifteen years from now I will pass down my regailia to my daughter--if I have one by then. This tradition involves regailia that is used for dancing in pow wows in my Native American culture. One of my happy memories of this tradition is my mom passing her regailia down to me. It is custom made with a silver shawl with a big blue cross on it. All custom made regailia is made within several months and are priceless because they are hand made. By sharing this tradition with future generations, I hope they will be proud to have the customs and traditions of the Native American culture.

Dragons Den:Life Lesson
A life lesson that I learned the hard way was to not loose my temper with my twin brother. When we were six I got very angry because he kept bothering me for no reason. He kept throwing my toys and pulling my hair, so later that night when my family was sleeping I put a tack by his door and as he got up to use the bathroom he stepped on it. I felt really bad because he was screaming and crying about the excruciating pain. It made me cry a little because I was so guilty. Karma hit me a week ago because I stepped on a tack. It made me laugh about how karma hits you when you least expect it.

Dragons Den: Power Outage
On Thursday evening I was walking into the kitchen when suddenly I noticed everything turn off in a split second. In response I immediately questioned what the cause of it was and started to laugh a little because I didn't think it was serious. Then while the power was still out for a longer amount of time, I began to take it seriously and I really wanted to get to the bottom of what happened. Later I just got used to it and as it got darker outside I was fine with it because its not like I sleep with the lights on. When the power came back on I was glad because I was able to charge my phone and Ipod.

“The Pedestrian” Before You Read: Life in 2053
Life for me in 2053 will be awesome. I will be served and waited on by high tech robots and I will be abale to go wherever I want. Everyday work will be easy and my boss will be a robot also. In 2053 I will be about sixty-three years old and probably be retired. Being retired will be fun in the future. I will be able to relax and enjoy life without being bored. I can travel to space, take a trip to the moon, and maybe go chill on jupiter. Things will be so different and new. There will be a lot of new technology, scientists might be able to cure cancer and other common diseases. Life in 2053 will be fun and easier than the present life for me.

“The Contents of the Dead Man’s Pocket” Minute Paragraph
In a minute of my life I tripped on my shoelaces and fell on my face. Before it happened I took a last look at all of my third grade friends. As I'm falling I begin to realize what the outcome of my fall will be. I knew I was going to hurt myself. I woke up with a black eye, a scarred eyebrow, and a fat lip. It was not fun at all.
Dragons Den: Shoes
My favorite brand of shoes is Vans because they are easier to walk in and they are comfortable. In case you haven't seen them, these shoes come in all sorts of colors and styles. These shoes can even tell what your favorite kind of styles are and can tell what kind of things you like. I do not wear these shoes on a regular basis because its easy to get them dirty. I like these shoes because they fit my personality and I can be active while wearing them. If I saw one of my peers wearing these shoes I would compliment them.

Response to Priester's Syllabus
I feel that this year of english will be difficult because we have to use computers for everything, and I am electronically impared. One of the things in the syllabus that stuck out to me were the prvileges for good behavior, because I think good behavior should be rewarded and bad behavior shouldn't. Another part that stood out to me is to respond to others with respect because I like it when people are respectful to me, so I am respectful back. The third part of the syllabus that stood at to me was taking a walk when you are angry, because I find it very helpful to take a walk, it helps me clear my head.
