"Two Kinds" Jing-Mei's Shoes Paragraph

If someone was pushing me to become a prodigy piano player I would be respectful and honored that they chose me. I would try my hardest to do good. Learning new things is always a good thing. I would not be afraid to challenge myself and based on my experience with playing the piano for three five years, it is not an easy thing. It takes dedication and a lot of hard work. Being pressured helps you focus on what needs to get done and motivates you to do very well, because with less pressure less effort is given.

"Two Kinds" Before You Read: Something You Don't Want to Do

In the morning at home my dad woke me up to go to school. I refused because I did not want to go. I was also not feeling well and it made me feel guilty because my dad was disappointed in me. He always tells me to do things that are important no matter what because it will only hurt you in the end. We resolved the conflict by deciding to just go to school after lunch if I was feeling better by then.

Academic Language Week 5 - Vaccinations

Children should not be vaccinated to go to school because there can be many side effects and some can cause autism. Scientists should be more consistent on ESTIMATING harmful side effects. There should only be POSITIVE effects of the drugs being injected into young children and teens.

"Everyday Use" Before You Read: Tradition

Fifteen years from now I will pass down my regailia to my daughter--if I have one by then. This tradition involves regailia that is used for dancing in pow wows in my Native American culture. One of my happy memories of this tradition is my mom passing her regailia down to me. It is custom made with a silver shawl with a big blue cross on it. All custom made regailia is made within several months and are priceless because they are hand made.  By sharing this tradition with future generations, I hope they will be proud to have the customs and traditions of the Native American culture.

Dragons Den:Life Lesson

A life lesson that I learned the hard way was to not loose my temper with my twin brother. When we were six I got very angry because he kept bothering me for no reason. He kept throwing my toys and pulling my hair, so later that night when my family was sleeping I put a tack by his door and as he got up to use the bathroom he stepped on it. I felt really bad because he was screaming and crying about the excruciating pain. It made me cry a little because I was so guilty. Karma hit me a week ago because I stepped on a tack. It made me laugh about how karma hits you when you least expect it.

Dragons Den: Power Outage

On Thursday evening I was walking into the kitchen when suddenly I noticed everything turn off in a split second. In response I immediately questioned what the cause of it was and started to laugh a little because I didn't think it was serious. Then while the power was still out for a longer amount of time, I began to take it seriously and I really wanted to get to the bottom of what happened. Later I just got used to it and as it got darker outside I was fine with it because its not like I sleep with the lights on. When the power came back on I was glad because I was able to charge my phone and Ipod.

“The Pedestrian” Before You Read: Life in 2053

Life for me in 2053 will be awesome. I will be served and waited on by high tech robots and I will be abale to go wherever I want. Everyday work will be easy and my boss will be a robot also. In 2053 I will be about sixty-three years old and probably be retired. Being retired will be fun in the future. I will be able to relax and enjoy life without being bored. I can travel to space, take a trip to the moon, and maybe go chill on jupiter. Things will be so different and new. There will be a lot of new technology, scientists might be able to cure cancer and other common diseases. Life in 2053 will be fun and easier than the present life for me.

“The Contents of the Dead Man’s Pocket” Minute Paragraph

In a minute of my life I tripped on my shoelaces and fell on my face. Before it happened I took a last look at all of my third grade friends. As I'm falling I begin to realize what the outcome of my fall will be. I knew I was going to hurt myself. I woke up with a black eye, a scarred eyebrow, and a fat lip. It was not fun at all.

Dragons Den: Shoes

My favorite brand of shoes is Vans because they are easier to walk in and they are comfortable. In case you haven't seen them, these shoes come in all sorts of colors and styles. These shoes can even tell what your favorite kind of styles are and can tell what kind of things you like. I do not wear these shoes on a regular basis because its easy to get them dirty. I like these shoes because they fit my personality and I can be active while wearing them. If I saw one of my peers wearing these shoes I would compliment them.
